CONVIRON TO SUPPLY COMPLEX CONTROLLED ENVIRONMENT ROOMS AND CHAMBERS TO MARYLAND'S CENTER FOR ADVANCED RESEARCH IN BIOTECHNOLOGY (CARB)
Winnipeg - February 23, 2005 ----Conviron, a world leader in the design and manufacture of controlled environment systems, has been awarded the contract to supply a full range of environmental chambers and rooms to the Center for Advanced Research in Biotechnology (CARB) at the University of Maryland in Rockville.
In all, Conviron will supply 33 units to CARB, ranging in application from plant growth to special application environmental rooms and insect rearing rooms. Two of the insect rooms are designed to a BL-3 containment level, while four are BL-2 rooms. Conviron was selected to supply the diverse products because it has the broad design and manufacturing expertise required for the project , and was able to take on all aspects of the project, from design through production, to installation and commissioning. In addition, Conviron's reputation, especially on projects of this size, is unsurpassed. The equipment is to be commissioned and turned over by September 1, 2005.

CARB conducts research and provides interdisciplinary training in fundamental problems at the forefront of biotechnology. Research at CARB centers on structure, function, design and evolution of biological macromolecules, and relies on both theoretical and experimental approaches. CARB is located close to Maryland's major research campuses and several government laboratories, including the National Institutes of Health, which also house complex equipment designed and supplied by Conviron.
