FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Conviron Selected to Supply
Equipment to Prestigious Quebec Universities
Conviron has been awarded contracts to supply four separate Quebec
institutions with state-of-the-art plant growth chambers and rooms.
Of the four institutions - McGill University (MacDonald Campus and
McGill Phytotron at the Downtown Campus), Université de Sherbrooke,
Concordia University and the University of Quebec at Montreal -
MacDonald College will house the majority of the 63 units at its
Department of Plant Sciences.
"Conviron has had a long history with McGill and many of the
other important universities in Quebec," said Conviron President
and CEO Steven Kroft. "This latest phase represents a continuation
of that partnership, as the needs of the researchers change and
the technology evolves".
Mark Romer, Phytotron Manager at McGill's Biology Department, has
used Conviron equipment for nearly 20 years. "Conviron has
developed a strong line of products which perform reliably,"
said Romer, who manages 37 Conviron units, some of which date back
to 1977. "I am particularly impressed by the commitment to
customer service and product support offered by the company. The
commitment to our facility has not ended with the invoice."
Funding for the projects was received from the Canada Foundation
for Innovation (CFI). CFI is an independent corporation established
by the Government of Canada in 1997, with a goal to strengthen the
capability of Canadian universities, colleges, research hospitals
and other not-for-profit institutions to carry out world-class research
and technology development.
Conviron is a world leader in the design and manufacture of controlled
environment systems. Founded nearly 40 years ago, Conviron has worked
with scientists around the world, designing and delivering research
facilities at many of the world's leading institutions. Conviron's
product range includes plant growth chambers and rooms, research
greenhouses and environmental rooms.
