On September 9 and 10 Conviron participated in the 2017 Manitoba Dragon Boat Festival. The event was held at The Forks National Historic Site in Winnipeg and runs annually in support of Cancer Care Manitoba and the Children’s Hospital Foundation. The annual fundraiser supports cancer treatments as well as pediatric clinical trials for children fighting the disease.
This year over 50 teams participated in three categories; mixed recreational, all female and competitive. Conviron fielded a team of over 20 paddlers dubbed the Conviron Castaways. “Cancer Care Manitoba and the Children’s Hospital Foundation is a very worthwhile cause. It’s great to see the community come together like this and the Conviron team is proud to participate in this year’s event”, said Steve Kroft, Conviron’s President and CEO.
Conviron led the way at this year’s festival both in fundraising and it’s time in the mixed recreational division. As a top contributor, Conviron and other dragon boat teams also had the honor of participating in a moving ceremony on the river in honor of those struck with the disease.
