About the APPN
The Australian Plant Phenotyping Network (APPN) develops and supports advanced technologies, expertise, and data resources that accelerate crop research across Australia. It offers open access to world‑class plant phenomics infrastructure located in major cropping environments nationwide. APPN is funded through the Australian Government’s NCRIS program, GRDC, state governments, industry partners, and host institutions. It operates as a distributed network of research platforms situated across multiple nodes around the country.
Labs at the APPN Facility at ANU
In the above video, Dr. Frederike Stock takes viewers on a tour of the labs at the Australian Plant Phenomics Network (APPN), a world-leading research infrastructure facility at the Australian National University.
Thevideo showcases the Plant Growth Facility (PGF), which contains 26 reach‑in growth cabinets. These include:
- One‑tier chambers for growing tall plants (e.g., rice)
- Three‑tier chambers for growing small plants (e.g., Arabidopsis)
All chambers feature dynamic climate control, allowing researchers to simulate environmental conditions from almost anywhere in the world.
