The Plant Futures Facility (PFF) at the University of Queensland,
Australia provides a world-leading research facility that underpins
excellence and innovation in plant science and sustainable ecosystems
with global impact.
Collaboration
Building 30 custom chambers and outfitting nine rooftop greenhouses with Argus Controls was more than a three year collaboration between the University of Queensland and Conviron. The project involved over 10,000 engineering hours and a dedicated Conviron project management team.
Together Conviron and sister company Argus Controls contributed to developing an elite controlled environment plant growth facility for tropical-to-temperate plant species research, supporting food, fibre, and fuel production.
The facility contains an array of highly technical controlled environment rooms, capable of replicating a variety of environmental conditions to simulate natural conditions. The $65 million facility is comprised of six floors that contain:
I'm super excited about the opportunity this facility brings to researchers across UQ and industry partners because it's really going to supercharge our ability to dissect apart the environment and genetics and how plants grow.
