Applications Are Now Open for the Canadian CEA Growth Pathway Program
Nov 3, 2026
Canadian growers looking to expand greenhouse production, modernize facilities, adopt advanced cultivation technologies, or invest in controlled environment agriculture (CEA) infrastructure now have access to significant new federal funding opportunities.
The Government of Canada has officially opened applications for the Controlled Environment Agriculture Growth Pathway Program, a seven-year initiative that will invest $750 million to strengthen year-round fruit and vegetable production, enhance food security, and support innovation in Canadian agriculture. Applications are being accepted from October 30 to December 23, 2026 (12:00 PM ET). The intake period may close earlier if available funding is fully committed.

Funding Available for Greenhouses, Indoor Farms & CEA Projects
The program includes a $650 million Controlled Environment Agriculture Technology Adoption Stream, designed to support producers adopting, expanding, or modernizing CEA infrastructure and technologies. Eligible investments may include:
- Greenhouse control systems
- Plant growth chambers and growth rooms
- Automation and robotics
- Supplemental lighting systems
- Digital growing technologies
- Indoor and vertical farming infrastructure
Projects approved under the program may receive between $100,000 and $10 million in funding support.
The Growing Importance of CEA
Controlled environment agriculture continues to play an increasingly important role in strengthening Canada's food system. The program aims to:
- Increase year-round fruit and vegetable production
- Improve food security and supply chain resilience
- Encourage technology adoption and productivity gains
- Support sustainable resource use
- Reduce reliance on imported produce
- Expand local and regional food production capacity

How Conviron Can Help
For decades, Conviron has helped researchers, producers, propagators, and innovators develop growing strategies, optimize crop performance, and reduce production risk through advanced controlled environment solutions.
Whether you're planning a new greenhouse project, expanding production capacity, evaluating propagation protocols, or investing in pre-commercial crop development, Conviron growth chambers and rooms can help provide the environmental precision needed to accelerate testing, improve predictability, and support successful deployment at commercial scale:

Day-to-Day Use of Growth Chambers in the Greenhouse
On a daily basis, growth chambers and rooms play an important role in commercial greenhouse operations. Growers use controlled environments for seed germination studies, rooting trials, propagation protocol development, cultivar evaluations, pest and disease investigations, and the optimization of temperature, lighting, humidity, and irrigation strategies. By providing a highly repeatable growing environment, growth chambers and rooms help growers refine production practices, troubleshoot challenges, and continuously improve crop quality, uniformity, and operational efficiency:
